Comparing Online Detective Programs

Online Detective Programs: First, I would like to say that an online detective program is not magic, it will not give you an NCIC criminal records check, and it will not get you credit report information. If they cannot do that, how can they be useful? First, let me explain basically how they all work. Each one has it's own software and they way they gather information, so they are not all alike. What these programs do is save you hours and hours of researching public records, and maybe checking from state to state or even county by county. They access all online public records they can, and then they compile the information in a database, so you can see how expensive it could be to do all of this. Some services they have to pay for, that is why they end up charging. Now I am sure they get volume discounts and the like, but hey, to me the information is worth it. I find that they are very useful tools to find people, of find things out for people. I have found lost relatives and phone number owners for harassers.

Scams: Some people have claimed that these programs are scams, simply because they could not find the one thing they were looking for. Most of these programs have a satisfaction guarantee of up to 8 weeks. The point is, instead of crying because you did not get results you wanted, get your money back. It is that simple.

OK, so I get asked about which "online detective" program is best to use all the time. In reality they all have strengths and weaknesses. I have found things with some that I have not found with others. I have given some notes on the ones I have used and seem to be the most effective. If you have used any of these programs, I would appreciate your feedback – good and bad.

The Net Detective is the premiere online investigator resource. Real-life private investigators use the Net Detective every day. When we compared these "people finder" people lookups, the Net Detective consistently found updated information on people that the others failed to provide.

With the Net Detective you can not only use it as a people finder, a people search for background records, you can also do a reverse phone number lookup, you can also find unknown phone numbers by name - Something most other online investigation tools fail to use.

The Net Detective has a very simple user interface and produces complete professional reports in minutes - usually in seconds.

Note: I have used the Net Detective myself, and I have found people using this that no other "background check" service found. I was even able to unite a daughter and her estranged dad using this service.

The cost is $29.00 for three full years! That is about the same price as an individual report from the others. You can still make lookups for the next three years!

Use the Net Detective now!

Now CourtRecords.org is one of the many people search public records search services based on CIS.

They have millions of records that you can easily access. It may be the largest database of all the people search sites. You will have access to all of CIS services and their complete background report is a very professional presentation of very detailed data.

CourtRecords.org has an easy user interface and is backed by Clickbank's eight week money back guarantee. Many private investigation services use this service. I have used CIS services and I have been very pleased with it. I was able to track down a person by only a phone number, I then was able to complete a background check that revealed the entire family at the residence. It enabled me to complete a case in record time.

You can choose to do one complete background report or sign up to the premiere services for one year free people lookups for free.

Public Records Pro
When you run an instant public records search with PublicRecordsPro.com you'll get access to full birth, death, and other vital record information, which includes (when available): Public Records, Birth records, Death records, Marriage / divorce filings, County public records, Criminal background records.

Never before has all of this information been organized, collected, and made accessible in one easy-to-use interface. I have used these services and can say that it is a very comprehensive public records search tool. Millions of records are searched instantly.

Through cross-linking and intelligent match tools, we'll also help connect you with information that hasn't been digitized yet. That makes Public Records Pro the perfect service for genealogy, finding out more information about someone, or tracing your family tree.

Government Resources
Government Resources has a good deal for the price. It is also one of those one-stop shops for all sorts of investigations.

It is 100% legal and has a lot of organized databases. Gov-Resources is a simple, fast, and low-cost solution.

Use Government Resources Now

Intelius
Intelius is a more "professional" background search engine. When I say professional, I mean even the police use this service to track down information they do not have available either. As a matter of fact of all the services I have looked at, it is the only one that meets FCRA guidelines. Those are the legal rules that basically guide how employers and landlords can conduct background checks on prospective employees and tenants respectively. Intelius is a good choice if you only have a single check to perform. It will be less expensive. However, it is not the best deal if you want to conduct multiple background checks on individuals.

Instant Statewide Employment checks run $29.95 – Nationwide $59.95 Complete Background reports run $49.95 They also offer an identity theft protection program for $7.95 a month.

Go to Intelius now.

I hope these descriptions help you to choose which program you would like to use if you need it. Most of all –

More Dumb Criminal Stories

Dumbest crook ever robs his daughter:

This story is brought to you by the word, "Really."

There's so much to love about this story. A dumb crook barges into a pizza place with a toy gun, slaps a teenager working there who then unloads on him. Don't worry, it's all caught on tape. But wait! As he beats the tar out of this robber, one of his co-workers yells, 'Don't hit him again! That's my dad!' Really?

Wow. I mean. Really?

While this young woman is working to make money, her mom, dad and husband are cruising to rob someplace. They settle on her place of employment? Really? That seemed like a good idea? Slapping around a teenager seemed like a good idea? Trying to hide your identity with a loosely worn wig and then picking a fight -- you didn't see that coming, that your wig might come off and you might be exposed and your daughter might ID you? There's nowhere else to rob? This is how you get money, not by following the example of your daughter and actually working? Really?

That story came from here.

“Gimme $50 Or I’ll Stab You With This Palm Frond!”

A man in DeLand, Florida, held up a store there in a crime that police described as one of the most bizarre that they have ever seen. His weapon of choice? A palm frond.

Police there say that the man, identified as Gelando Olivieri, attempted to rob the V&F Discount Beverage store by threatening harm with a spiked Spanish bayonet, a palmetto-like plant with sharp points on its leaves.

“The man came in with the branch. I have never seen anything like this,” owner Goutam Sarkar told the DeLand-Deltona Beacon, a newspaper there, June 19.

Surveillance video showed Olivieri wildly waving the palm frond right in front of a worker’s face.

According to investigators, Olivieri threatened to use the leaves to stab if he wasn’t given $50.

Before Olivieri got any money, he was chased out of the store by a man armed with a barstool.

Olivieri was arrested a short time after the crime and charged with armed robbery. (Maybe that should be “palmed robbery”.)

I think he shoulad used a chair instead of a palm frond - :))

I hope you enjoyed the stories -

Read Deleted Text Messages From a SIM Card

Have you ever come across the need to recover deleted text messages from your cell phone? Maybe you accidentally deleted it. Ok, let's face it - you want to snoop on someone else's phone. If it has a SIM card, and you have access to it for a while - you can get all kinds of good stuff off the phone - deleted or not!

Maybe you are nosy about someone else's deleted text messages. Maybe you want to do even more. You may want to find out about deleted recent calls - received or dialed. Well, fortunately all you that want to be your own detective - you can do just that.
.
Cell Phone Spy Elite: SIM Card Reader

Now you can read text messages and more form a cell phone's SIM card. You can even download deleted text messages to find out what kind of texts have been sent and received on a cell phone. It Does take a special device, but this device is quite affordable especially considering what it can do.

The Cell Phone Spy Elite: SIM Card Reader has recovered a substantial amount of deleted text messages from every SIM card tested. That doesn't mean it will work with every single SIM card, as these cards do vary quite a bit. It does work, law enforcement agencies and private detectives all over the world have used this exact device to obtain deleted text messages. Even if you never use this thing - it is nice to know this information can be had this way.

AT&T's Phone Bill Scam

Now, I am not bad mouthing AT&T per se, as I bet all other wireless carriers do this same crap. 3rd party stuff added to your AT&T bill.

Before I get into details let me explain that I don’t download ring-tones, or any other crap from the internet into my phone. If I want a unique ring-tone – I use the composer feature of the phone. I don’t use my phone to hook up to the internet, heck half the time, I don’t answer my cell phone.

So … I am looking at my phone bill, and there are 4 3rd party charges on my phone bill. So I request to find out what these charges are and when were they done. Funny, AT&T can’t tell me. They tell me it is likely to be downloaded ring-tones or other internet related nonsense. They (AT&T) say I need to contact the company. What is funny, there is no way to know from the 3rd party company how I got billed. I have to “log in” first to do this. But I cannot log in, because I don’t have an account. So how can I find out how or why I was billed for “possibly downloaded ring-ones” or other internet related stuff.

Before you jump on the hate AT&T bandwagon, AT&T quickly refunded me of these charges (which by the way, showed I had a “subscription”). OK, there is one bad thing. I had this stuff turned off of my account (for a one time small charge) so that it cannot happen again. Now why in the heck do I need to pay to NOT have some 3rd party be able to basically almost anonymously charge me through my AT&T bill? That part makes no sense, except that AT&T is in cahoots with these 3rd party billers – meaning that AT&T gets a cut too.

Also, the state of Florida has sued and won a case against AT&T for such 3rd party charges. It seems the attorney General of Florida did not like the idea of you not being able to track down the original “contract” or purchase from a third party to be just plain wrong too. The other thing is apparently a lot of these companies have promised some sort of “free service” that included an unknown monthly subscription. See the news story here. Engadetmobile.com also had a post about it.

My point: pay attention to your phone bill. Check it all the time, or these clowns will charge you for absolutely nothing.

Caylee Anthony - Small Update

Well, more information comes out on this case. Maybe you guys are tired of hearing about it. Just so you can see the "official" records of the twisted story of this case - I have a copy of the search warrant and return available here. It just goes to shw you what is available by searching public records.

It is worth the read if you have the time to see it. You can see more of the story yourself. It makes you wonder more and more about the whole family after reading this.

I really feel for Caylee - Happy Birthday Caylee, where ever you are.

Don't Just Be Your Own Detective - Be Caylee Anthony's Detective

In this case, maybe you can be a detective for someone else. Caylee Anthony needs your help, my help, anyone's help.

Anyone can see that there is something wrong with the date(s) of Caylee's alleged disappearance. In addition to the June 9th date, family members claim that Caylee was last seen on June 15th, and Casey's ex-fiancé claims to have heard Caylee's voice in the background during a telephone conversation he had with Casey on June 24th, the same date that Caylee's grandfather, George Anthony, reported the gas cans that he believes were stolen from his shed. Casey could provide a precise date when Caylee was last seen.
The biggest problem in finding out about what happened to Caylee is Casey, who claimed that she had left Caylee with a babysitter, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.
According to Dr. Schurman-Kauflin (expert criminal profiler), Casey Anthony is a "dark damsel" who is seemingly ignoring the disappearance of her 2-year-old child, Caylee Anthony.
"The hallmark of a good predator is that she constantly tells lies. If you clutter the truth with enough of what's false, no one can tell what is real," Dr. Schurman-Kauflin said. "This is why the female offender keeps everyone guessing with deception. Keep people chasing their tails, and they don't have the time to fight you. You will often find female offenders are remarkably good at making people do what they want. They are especially skilled at manipulating men. Women know there is more than one way to make a man wild. She can seduce him. She can lead him in circles. When that fails, she can kill. Seduce-circle-kill."
"In her eyes, those close to her are mere things that can be tossed in the trash when they get in the way. Follow her men, and you will follow her thinking. What that means is female predators are especially driven by their need to feel sexual and appealing. They need their men more than they need their families. Male attention is exciting, while family is judgmental. Men build her ego, but their children tear it down. What feeds her ego? If you figure this out, you figure her out.

In regards to the trail of lies surrounding the case, Dr. Schurman-Kauflin said that they suggest Anthony is desperate for attention.
"She went toward excitement and lied when it suited her," she said, adding, "Lies surround her. Truth looks very hard to find here."
She comes across as angry that people care more for her missing child than her. Her pattern comes across very clear. She put herself first, at least when it came to her disappearing baby."
One of the keys to unlocking this mystery may be in understanding with Casey's relationship with Caylee's father. While it has been reported that he died in an auto accident a year ago, little else has been revealed. News accounts do not even mention his name or his family. Was he ever legally established as Caylee's father?
You do not need to be a criminal expert to recognize a sociopath when you see one. Casey Anthony does not care a thing about anyone. She is annoyed to be in jail. She is pissed at her mother. She feels victimized. She has no shame for what she has done. Forget about remorse.
How can we help find Caylee Anthony? I am not sure, but I am asking all that may know anything to help find her.
If you have any information on the whereabouts or well-being of Caylee Marie Anthony since June 16, 2008 please notify the authorities by using the phone numbers below:
Orange County Missing Persons Unit
407-254-7000
407-836-HELP (4357)
Detective Yuri Melich
office 407.254.7000 (ext. 70633)
Crimeline: 1-800-423-TIPS (8477)

What we know: Caylee is missing, her mother is in jail, and her father allegedly was killed in an auto accident last year. The sad news – August 9th is Caylee’s birthday, let’s hope she is just hidden and isn’t already gone. For any ideas on who may be able to help find her – a timeline is listed below.
  • June 9: Casey Anthony said that on June 9, she dropped Caylee off at a babysitter who lived at the Sawgrass Apartments. She said the babysitter's name was Zenaida Gonzalez.
  • June 12: George Anthony says Caylee was spotted by friends of the Anthony family in a shopping area near the Orange-Seminole county lines. She was wearing a pink and blue outfit and white-rimmed sunglasses.
  • June 15: In her testimony in Casey Anthony's bond hearing, Caylee's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, revised her estimate of the last time she saw the girl. Cindy Anthony said video of Caylee reading a book helped her remember that Caylee went with her to visit her father at an assisted living facility on Father's Day.
  • June 9 - July 12: Casey Anthony tells her parents that she had been going to work every day and that Caylee had been staying with friends or nannies.
  • June 24 or June 25: Detective Corp. Yuri Melich testified during Casey Anthony's bond hearing that a witness came forward who said he had talked to Casey on the phone on either June 24 or June 25 and that he heard Caylee in the background. The witness said that at one point in the conversation Casey told Caylee to get down from the table.
  • June 30: The car Casey had been using is towed from the Amscot store on Goldenrod Road and Colonial Drive.
  • July 12: After they had not seen Caylee for some time, the girl's grandparents got concerned and confronted Casey, convincing her to go to the sheriff's office.
  • July 15: The Sheriff's Office is notified that Caylee Anthony has been missing since June 9.
  • July 16: The car found abandoned is picked up by the Anthony family from the wrecker company
  • July 16: Police talk to Zenaida Gonzalez who says she does not know Casey Anthony. Police also take Casey to Universal Studios where she said she worked. After leading them to a building, she admitted she was no longer employed there.
  • July 16: Casey Anthony is arrested.
  • July 17: The Sheriff's Office takes possession of the car and finds evidence of possible human decomposition. The car is sent to the forensics bank.
  • July 17: The Sheriff's office starts to search the backyard of the Anthony house.
  • July 17: Casey Anthony is officially charged with child neglect, lying to investigators and interfering with a criminal investigation. The judge denies bond because she showed a "woeful disregard for the welfare of her child."
  • July 22: A bond hearing is held for Casey Anthony. Her mother, father, brother and a detective in the case all testify. The judge sets bail at $500,000.
  • July 29: Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, asks a judge to bar the release of jail house recorded conversations, 922 tapes and visitor logs to the media. That request was denied.
  • July 30: The Fifth District Court of Appeals in Daytona Beach deny Baez's appeal of the $500,000 bond, asking that it be reduced to $10,000. That appeal was denied.
  • July 31: George and Cindy Anthony are interviewed by the FBI
  • Aug. 1: The Orange County Sheriff's Office take several bags of evidence from the Anthony home.
CSI personnel only stayed for about five minutes at Caylee's maternal grandparents' home, but were seen leaving the house with two large paper bags. The Orange County Sheriff's Office would not reveal what was taken from the home but indicated that the family was being cooperative with investigators. In evidentiary search warrants, the investigators can only search for evidence listed in he warrant. This is possibly why the time was so short – they may have found what was listed quickly.

Why Be Your Own Detective? - Contest

Why do you need to be your own detective? That is what some people wonder. I know that all could hire an expensive private investigator to find what they want or solve all of their investigative issues.

So I ask: “Why do you need to be your own detective?” Do you have someone that just bugs you? Maybe it is that annoying neighbor. Maybe a creepy guy that just won’t leave you alone, is your target to be investigated. Have you ever had anyone that you wanted checked out? Maybe you think 30 bucks is too much to spend to check someone out. Maybe you never really cared.

Here is what I am proposing. It is my own version of a contest. I know – all these bloggers are having their own contests – and some are cool, and some I am just tired of seeing. So here is my contest – maybe I will have no takers. All you have to do to enter is this:

Subscribe to my RSS feed (10pts). Write a small blog post, or even just a paragraph within a larger blog post explaining what or who you want to or need to investigate with a link back to this blog (20 pts). It is up to you how much you want to reveal in your posts – you don’t have to name names and the like. Then just leave me a comment telling me where to find your post (10 pts). Then I will give five points for each unique visitor through your post. In case there is a tie, some scientific method like random drawing a name out of a hat will determine the winner.

You may make more than one post if you like for more points… I don’t expect this, but I will grant you the points if you do.

Here is what you will win:

1st Place is a 1 year of free reverse phone lookups from the Reverse Phone Detective. (One winner)

2nd Place is a 3 year subscription to the Net Detective a $29.95 value (one winner)

3rd place is a free one time reverse cell phone lookup or search on a person by name. (5 winners)

So see, maybe you will win what you need investigated (that one free lookup) for a simple post on what you need. I hope I get some takers, I like helping folks out by doing reverse phone lookups or people searches for them. - Contest ends August 31st.
